My goal is to write more polished film reviews similar to what you might read in Entertainment Weekly or on film websites such as Joblo.com. I am looking to improve my writing techniques when I write about movies. In the meantime, here are some quick snippets I have posted on Facebook recently about films I have seen within the past few weeks:
-"22 Jump Street"-definitely funny, but I still liked the first one better. I do like how self-aware the film is of how it's basically a retread of the first one ("Exactly the same!"), and the end credits were genius. Pairing Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum together to do comedy is one of the smartest things to come out of Hollywood in recent years. They are a comedic super-duo.
----
-"The Purge:Anarchy"-one of the rare sequels that surpasses the original. I thought it really worked well to take the action to the streets as opposed to keeping it confined to one space. The concept, while sick and disturbing, is quite creative. I anticipate the third film.
-"Foxcatcher"-most overrated movie of 2014. Boring, with lifeless characters that could have been played by anyone. A whole lot of nothing going on in that movie.
